Trial ordered against drug suspect | Crime and Courts

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – A La Crosse man pleads not guilty to eight drug-related charges.

Raymond R. Lewis appeared in La Crosse County District Court Tuesday morning.

He was there for a hearing to determine whether there was enough evidence to put him on trial on the charges.

Lewis was charged last week with eight felony counts, including possession of cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine with intent to resell and maintaining a drug trafficking location.

The penalties for three of the charges are increased because the location on Division Street in La Crosse where police say Lewis' activities took place is in close proximity to two schools and an early education center.

Testimony from La Crosse Police Investigator Andrew Tolvstad convinced Judge Scott Horne that there was enough evidence to put Lewis on trial.

Lewis pleaded not guilty.

His bail conditions remain unchanged – $500,000 cash. Lewis remains in the La Crosse County Jail.
