Cause of death of Chris Pratt's stunt double Tony McFarr announced

Chris Pratt's long-time stunt double Tony McFarr died in May of a heart problem likely caused by heavy drinking, TMZ reported Wednesday, August 21.

McFarr died at the age of 47 on May 13 at his home outside Orlando, Florida. McFarr's mother Donna confirmed the news to TMZ at the time.

According to the newspaper, the Orange County Medical Examiner in Florida, citing documents obtained, concluded that McFarr's death was due to an irregular heartbeat and found that there was a problem with the stuntman's heart valves.

The medical examiner determined that acute alcohol poisoning and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease contributed to McFarr's death, according to TMZ. His autopsy revealed a history of binge drinking.

McFarr was Pratt's stunt double Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2, Jurassic World and its continuation Jurassic World: Fallen KingdomAnd Passengers. He also acted as a stunt double for Brendan Fraser And Jon Hamm.

“I am devastated to hear of the loss of my friend and former stunt double. We made several films together. We played golf, drank whiskey, smoked cigars and spent endless hours on set. I will never forget his toughness,” Pratt McFarr wrote in an Instagram story on May 16.

The Garfield – The Movie Star recalled working with McFarr on the second Guardians of the Galaxy Film and described his stunt double as a “gentleman and a professional”.

“I remember him getting a bad blow to the head (in the title credits of Guardian 2) and got several clamps in his head – he came right back to work and was ready to go. He was an absolute stud. He was always a gentleman and professional,” Pratt wrote.

“He will be missed. My prayers are with his friends and family, especially his daughter,” the post concluded.

Pratt also released several photos of him and McFarr on various film sets, including the Jurassic World Franchise to his Instagram stories.
