Man accused of killing Loranger's mother; 3-year-old expected in court

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The man accused of killing a mother and her 3-year-old daughter is expected in a Tangipahoa Parish courtroom Wednesday (August 21).

Daniel Callihan faces two charges of first-degree murder, aggravated child abduction and second-degree kidnapping.

In June, Callihan allegedly stabbed Callie Brunett, the mother of two girls, to death in her home in Loranger.

Investigators say he then took the young girls across the state line into Mississippi.

He is accused of killing the youngest girl in Jackson.

Callihan faces trial in Mississippi and Louisiana for the deaths of Callie and Erin Brunett

According to officials, his trial will initially take place in Louisiana.

He also faces child abduction charges in federal court.
