KDOT hosts a job fair in Dodge City on August 29

The Kansas Department of Transportation will host a job fair for heavy equipment operators and technical engineers in southwest Kansas on Thursday, August 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. at the KDOT subdivision located at 11310 E Wyatt Earp Blvd in Dodge City.

At the event you can expect:

• Resume assistance – Staff can review resumes and make suggestions to participants.

• Application station – Here you can fill out and submit online and paper applications. The staff will be happy to assist you.

• On-site interviews – KDOT will have interview teams on-site to conduct interviews and be prepared to offer contingent job offers to qualified candidates.

Tours of the facilities and equipment will be offered, and visitors will be able to tour the shop and view the equipment. An equipment operator and a KDOT technical staff member will be available to explain the function and use of each piece of equipment.

For equipment operators, KDOT offers a starting wage of $18.74 per hour for those without a commercial driver's license and $20.13 per hour after obtaining a CDL.

KDOT offers CDL training with no upfront cost. For technical engineers, KDOT offers a starting salary of $19.84. Additional benefits for all positions include insurance coverage from day one, immediate enrollment in KPERS pension, and a healthy work-life balance with annual and sick leave entitlements starting with the first pay period.

Equipment operators and technical engineers are part of KDOT's continuing education program, which provides them with opportunities to learn, expand their skills and advance their careers.
