A Clayton County police officer is suspected of stealing property from a railroad company.

Officer Jordan D. Sidney was taken into custody Monday and charged with violating his oath of office and theft of lost or misplaced property.

According to officials, the charges stem from an investigation that began on June 25 as a joint operation by the Clayton County District Attorney's Office, the Clayton County Criminal Investigation Department and the Norfolk Southern Railway Police.

That day, the Clayton County Police Department said the Norfolk Southern Railway Police had notified authorities of the property theft.

According to investigators, Sidney was filmed stealing railroad company property.

It is unclear whether Sidney is currently still in custody.
