Tyreek Hill injury update: Latest news on Miami Dolphins WR after sudden setback

The saga surrounding Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill continues to cast new shadows over history.

On Wednesday, Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel told reporters that Hill would be unable to practice due to a thumb injury on his right hand. According to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe, McDaniel stressed that Hill was only missing out as a precautionary measure, as practice could aggravate the injury.

Injury concerns had suddenly surfaced the day before when Hill took part in training – but did not catch any passes because he was wearing a splint on his right hand.

This is just the latest massive setback for the Dolphins regarding the weapons situation surrounding Tua Tagovailoa.

Odell Beckham Jr. has not yet been activated from the physically unable to perform list due to an undisclosed injury, which led to some vague comments from McDaniel and the wide receiver himself, who argued about it with his fans online.

Then there's Jaylen Waddle, who also has an unspecified injury and hasn't practiced in about two weeks. Potential No. 3 River Cracraft could also be out for an extended period of time with an upper-body injury.

With Hill and Waddle, the Dolphins are obviously taking a cautious approach and prioritizing health in Week 1. Detailed injury reports are mandatory this week, so fans can expect more.

Perhaps more pressing is that the entire offense hasn't gotten enough reps despite focusing on preparing for Week 1. Tagovailoa recently spoke openly about that in regards to Beckham.

The Dolphins' focus will now be on Hill's hand and the sudden double-double until the opening game. Tagovailoa will work with lineup names like Braxton Berrios and a rookie like Malik Washington in the meantime.
