Six people, including children, injured in accident involving two SUVs

BYRON, Wis. (WEAU) – Six people, including three children, were injured in a crash in the Monroe County town of Byron yesterday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, on August 20 at approximately 4:22 p.m., a GMC Acadia traveling east on Highway 21 collided with a Jeep Wrangler traveling west on Highway 21 from County Highway N.

The Jeep overturned and both vehicles were badly damaged.

Kory Phillips, 32, of Mauston, Wisconsin, was driving the Jeep and suffered serious injuries.

Tammy Stanley, 31, of Camp Douglas, Wisconsin, was driving the GMC and suffered serious injuries. A 31-year-old passenger in the GMC also suffered serious injuries. Three children in the GMC suffered minor injuries. Two other children in the GMC were uninjured.

Initial investigations revealed that Phillips had disregarded the right of way when entering the intersection.
