Dennis Schröder calls Kevin Durant “weak” because of viral Olympic post

Dennis Schröder criticized Kevin Durant for his “weak” antics after winning a gold medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

German player and NBA star Schröder spoke on Saturday (August 10) about the difference between European and American basketball culture, claiming that international basketball is “not about entertainment, it's about pure IQ basketball” and “guys who know how to play.” Schröder and Germany would be eliminated from Olympic competition after losing to France and finishing fourth.

On Sunday (August 11), Kevin Durant and Team USA took on France in the gold medal game. After claiming a 67-66 victory over the host nation, Durant posted a picture of his team on social media. Referencing Schröder's comments, he captioned the now-iconic image, “Entertainment & IQ.” Schröder caught wind of the picture on Monday (August 19) and took a few swipes at the four-time gold medalist in a Twitch livestream, calling him “weak.”

“And then they won and Kevin Durant tweeted 'high IQ and entertainment'. To me that's just weakness,” said Schröder. “You have to say something to a person like me who didn't even mean it negatively. That's just what I see from both sides.”

“So, I didn't appreciate it. I don't care, but at the end of the day, that tweet or whatever he posted was because of me, and to me it was never anything negative. I respect all those guys, all the GOATs, but to say that shows me how weak he is as a person. It is what it is, not everyone is strong, not everyone is in a good place,” he concluded.

KD has yet to respond to Schröder's recent comments and has been unusually quiet on social media since being crowned world champion, according to Noah Lyles. But the Slim Reaper may have something saved for when the Phoenix Suns face the Brooklyn Nets in November.
