Indian doctor arrested in Michigan for filming thousands of nude videos of children and women

Oumair Aejaz, a 40-year-old Indian doctor working in the US, was held on $2 million bail after being accused of multiple sex crimes, including taking nude pictures and videos of children and women over the past six years. Police discovered over 13,000 videos he recorded on a single hard drive. During the investigation, 15 other external devices were also seized from his home.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard called the case “the most disturbing case of sexual harassment” he had ever seen in his long career.

Aejaz came to the United States from India on a work visa in 2011. He completed his residency at Detroit Sinai Grace Hospital in Michigan and later moved to Dawson, Alabama. He specializes in internal medicine.

Aejaz returned to Oakland County, Michigan in 2018 to continue his practice as an internist.

He is on staff at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township and Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, Michigan.

According to a press release from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office in Michigan, Aejaz is accused of using hidden cameras to film women of various ages and children as young as two years old. He filmed them in hospital rooms, restrooms, locker rooms, bathrooms and bedrooms to which he had access.

Sheriff Bouchard also said in the statement that investigators believe he even recorded sexual encounters with several women and hospital patients while they were sleeping or unconscious. He also filmed the patients' relatives while they were changing clothes.

“This is one of the most disturbing cases of sexual harassment I have seen in my long career,” Bouchard said.

“He rapes literally anyone he can. From a two-year-old boy to adult women, no one is immune to his disgusting, predatory behavior. Raping children in safe rooms while they are changing for a fun bath or sexually assaulting women who are still under anesthesia after a medical procedure shows that his depravity knows no bounds. At the end of this case, I sincerely hope that he is held fully accountable behind bars,” the sheriff added.

Oakland County District Attorney Karen D. McDonald said her office would use “all available resources” to bring charges against Aejaz.

“These children and mothers in a swim school were abused by a trusted person in the community – a doctor. This is more than an invasion of privacy. It robs these mothers and children, and all of us, of the sense of security we should have when we are in such a place with our children,” she explained.

10 charges against Aejaz, sheriff says solving his crimes will take months

Investigators received a tip about Aejaz on August 7, and he was arrested at his home the next day. Police filed charges against him and executed a search warrant within a day.

Bouchard said investigators also seized six computers and 15 external storage devices from his home. It is said that investigators will need six months to complete the examination of the seized materials.

According to a report in the Detroit Free Press, the case came to light when Aejaz's wife provided the recorded documents to law enforcement, after which the Oakland County Sheriff's Office executed several search warrants on his home in Rochester Hills, Michigan.

Previously, Aejaz had no known criminal past.

On August 13, Aejaz was formally charged with ten counts, including one count of child sexual abuse, one count of using a computer to create and/or reproduce child sexual abuse material, two counts of taking nude photographs of children under the age of 18, two counts of taking nude photographs of two women over the age of 18, and four counts of using a computer to commit crimes.

Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard said the scope of Aejaz's crimes was so great that it could take months to fully investigate the extent of his crimes. “The victimhood is so complete and the perversion is so great that we are only just beginning to comprehend it,” he said, adding that it was “disturbing on so many levels.”
