Cause of death of man found on Woodman's property known: coroner

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — A Skokie man found dead in his car at Woodman's Market in Buffalo Grove Saturday afternoon appears to have died of natural causes. Danny McCoy, 68, was pronounced dead at the scene at 1550 Deerfield Parkway.

On Wednesday, the Lake County Coroner's Office said toxicology tests are pending.

On Saturday at around 2:57 p.m., Buffalo Grove police and fire departments were called to the scene to check the condition of a vehicle that had a person inside and was emitting a foul odor.

Upon arrival, police found a man, later identified as McCoy, in a blue Chevrolet Equinox parked at the south end of the parking lot. First responders confirmed he was dead. Authorities conducted an investigation following the discovery that lasted over three hours. At no point was there any danger to the public, according to police.
