2 victims identified in Tahoe-area plane crash that killed 1

The two victims were on board a twin-engine aircraft of “experimental amateur construction” that crashed shortly after takeoff.

The two victims of a plane crash at Minden-Tahoe Airport on Tuesday that left one person dead have been identified.

Randal Abraham, 68, of Redwood City, and Brandt Wood, 52, of Gardnerville, Nevada, were aboard a twin-engine “amateur-built experimental aircraft” that crashed shortly after takeoff at about 8:23 a.m., the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said.

The pilot, Abraham, was pronounced dead at the scene. Wood was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the crash, according to a press release from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office did not provide any information on the severity of Wood's injuries.

The NTSB has opened an investigation into the crash. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
