A nationally ranked high school football team from Georgia will face one of the top-ranked teams from Florida this Friday when Milton meets American Heritage in the Broward County National Football Showcase.

Milton (GA) begins the season ranked No. 6 in the SBLive/SI Top 25 preseason rankings of high school football teams. American Heritage was on the verge of making the preseason Top 25, but the Patriots finished No. 8 in the Top 25 preseason rankings of Florida high school football teams.

Milton Eagles (1-0)

The Eagles survived a blitzing defensive battle against Buford (No. 13 nationally, No. 2 in Georgia) last week for a hard-fought 13-10 victory that featured a more than two-hour delay between halves.

It looks like they'll have better conditions to let their offense shine this week, but they'll have to weather a storm of a different kind in the form of American Heritage.

The defending Class 7A Georgia state champions will return most of their core players from last year and will look to make a statement on national television against one of Florida's best players.

American Heritage Patriots (0-0)

This is an incredible start to the season for the Patriots, who warmed up last week with a 37-26 preseason win over Blanche Ely.

Although they enter 2023 just outside the national top 25, that could change quickly given the talent level of this team.

Their offense is loaded with players like quarterback Dia Bell (Texas commit), wide receiver Malachi Toney (Miami commit) and Byron Louis (No. 23 running back in the class of 2025).

When you consider that several of their players have helped make American Heritage the fastest track and field team in the state, it's easy to see why this team could soon be ranked nationally.
