Car crash in Stoughton, MA, claims life of Pennsylvania driver – NBC Boston

A driver was killed and two other people were hospitalized in a two-car crash in Stoughton, Massachusetts, early Wednesday, authorities said.

The accident occurred at about 6:15 a.m. on Turnpike Street near a Dunkin', off Route 24, according to Stoughton police and the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office.

A Quincy woman told investigators she was driving her Toyota Highlander home from a night shift at a local hotel when the SUV and a Cadillac collided, prosecutors said.

Two Pennsylvania men were in the Cadillac and both were taken to Boston Medical Center, officials said. The suspected driver, Michael Unman, a 59-year-old from Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead, while the other man suffered serious injuries.

As of 1:20 p.m., no charges or citations have been filed. Authorities have not released any information about the current condition of the passenger in the Cadillac or the driver of the Toyota.

A portion of Turnpike Street, which is also Route 139, remained closed Wednesday afternoon after a car struck a telephone pole and knocked down wires on the road, authorities said.

Police said traffic on Route 139 would be diverted via Maple Street to Page Street.
