There is a lot of nerd-bashing going on in comic book stores all over the world, but one of the most important questions that comes up is: might a superhero. This is usually the case when we talk about Batman.

For example, if you were to ask 100 people on the street who the most famous superhero of all time is, I'm sure many of them would say Batman… but considering he has no superpowers, the question arises: does that disqualify him from the competition? The definition of a superhero is “a benevolent fictional character with superhuman powerslike Superman”.

Personally, I would Consider Batman a superhero. I think there are a number of heroes that meet that qualification without powers, such as Iron Man, The Punisher, Falcon, Nightwing, Black Widow, Hawkeye, etc. I think an affiliation with a superhero team like the Justice League, the Avengers, or the X-Men, as well as countless heroics and stories over the years, outweighs these characters' lack of powers.

Zoe Kravitz claims that Catwoman (which she portrayed phenomenally in “The Batman”) is a superhero, that's where I draw the line though. I understand that as an actress who most recently played Selina Kyle, she's kind of obligated to say that, but I would have just said Batman if I were her. Catwoman, like Batman, has no powers – but she's also generally portrayed as a thief and an out-and-out villain. She gets an antihero role every now and then and has a Robin Hood vibe, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, and she briefly teams up with a band of heroes… but she's not a superhero. I think you could make an easier argument for her being a superhero.Villain.

For these reasons, I'm afraid I have to give the win to Channing Tatum – especially after the Gambit shoutout. But after this quote, maybe he just hates everything to do with cats…

Side note: I feel like when Channing Tatum and Zoe Kravitz first started dating, people talked about them like they were an odd couple you wouldn't expect to be together – but in every clip I've seen of them, they seem like two peas in a pod. I think they're one of the most likable and seemingly down-to-earth celebrity couples we have right now, and I'd love to be friends with them. Just watching them pick films from the Criterion shelf was very entertaining…

Oh, and Channing Tatum actually stars in Zoe Kravitz's directorial debut, Blink Twice. (which they recently promoted together) and it looks great/gets great reviews so far….
