Minor passengers in stolen vehicle during chase and crash in Florence County

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – A Pee Dee man is in custody after allegedly leading officers on a chase in a stolen car earlier this month.

The Florence County Sheriff's Office said 22-year-old Jakell Jones was arrested Monday and faces several charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle, failure to stop for a blue light and endangering a child.

According to FCSO Maj. Mike Nunn, the charges against Jones stem from a chase on August 13th during which Jones eventually collided with several vehicles on East Palmetto Street. The crash also injured the occupants of the vehicles.

Nunn added that Jones allegedly endangered minors who were in the car with him during the chase.

As of Wednesday, Jones has been held at the Florence County Detention Center on $30,000 bail, according to records.
