Horry County man allegedly took and distributed explicit photos and videos of his victim for nearly two years

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A Horry County man is facing charges after allegedly distributing explicit photos and videos of a victim taken without her consent over a period of months.

According to records, 62-year-old Steven Guthoff was arrested Tuesday and charged with voyeurism.

According to arrest warrants obtained by WMBF News, Horry County Police were notified of a possible incident involving Guthoff in April. An investigation revealed that Guthoff allegedly photographed and recorded the victim “in various states of clothing and engaged in sexual activity” at a home on Moulton Drive in Longs in July 2022.

These images and videos were then reportedly shared on “various internet and social media platforms.” The arrest warrants also state that the images were “taken and distributed without the consent of the victim to satisfy the sexual desires of the accused.”

A police report dated April 29 also stated that the victim feared retaliation from Guthoff if it came out that she had reported the incident to the police.

Online records show Guthoff was released from the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Wednesday after posting $3,000 bail.
