The trial of Adam Fravel was transferred to Blue Earth Co.

In June, a judge granted a request to move Adam Fravel's case from Winona County.

WINONA, Minnesota – The man accused of killing Madeline Kingsbury, who had been missing for weeks, is set to stand trial in Blue Earth County.

According to new court documents, Adam Fravel's jury trial will begin Oct. 7 at the Blue Earth County Justice Center in Mankato.

This came after a judge in June agreed to move the case out of Winona County. Fravel's defense team said in a motion that due to the enormous media coverage and a public opinion poll, there was a “reasonable probability that a fair trial could not take place.”

The case stems from the death of Kingsbury, who was last seen on March 31 after dropping her children off at daycare accompanied by Fravel, her children's father. He told investigators the two went to her apartment before he ran errands, and when he returned, she was gone.

Fravel was arrested after an officer discovered Kingbury's remains just a few miles from Fravel's parents' home. Fravel is charged with first-degree murder.

The missing person's case attracted considerable public attention. In court documents about the transfer of the case, a Winona County judge stated, “Blue Earth County is best placed to ensure the impartiality required for a fair trial.”
