2 teenagers taken into custody after shooting in Goodyear district

Two young people are in custody after a Shooting involving a police officer on Tuesday in a Goodyear Neighborhood, police said.

police say officers spotted a stolen vehicle around 10 a.m. on August 20 and attempted to stop it. The driver drove into a neighborhood near Sarival Avenue and Van Buren Street and stopped in a dead-end street.

The officers surrounded the vehicle, the 13-year-old passenger got out and was arrested.

“After the passenger was arrested, the 15-year-old male driver drove the car in the direction where officers were standing,” police said. “A Goodyear officer feared for his safety and fired shots at the vehicle.”

A short chase ensued before the juvenile driver fled the vehicle. He was later found and taken into custody.

No one was injured in the shooting.

Glendale Police are currently investigating the shooting.
