Washington County District Attorney exonerates officer after video shows suspect hit by patrol car during arrest – WPXI

SOUTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Washington County district attorney has cleared a South Strabane Township police officer of any wrongdoing after a video of his arrest circulated online Tuesday.

The officer attempted to arrest Trendon Mobley, who appeared to be homeless and asking for money outside a shopping center. Police say Mobley was wanted on several charges. Mobley ran, was struck by the police car and knocked down.

A cellphone video of the incident was uploaded to TikTok and Facebook and viewed nearly a million times.

Prosecutor Jason Walsh said the suspect was known for his “violent tendencies” and posed a danger to the public. He believes Mobley intentionally drove into the police car.

Mobley was treated for minor injuries and taken to jail.

Cierra Smith, the woman who shot the video, said she was shaking afterward.

“I was shaking in disbelief for about 20 minutes. I actually saw this with my own eyes,” Smith said.

“The officer drove off and maneuvered the vehicle into a sort of pit lane. I felt bad, like I was definitely in shock and hoped the guy was OK.”

Mobley is wanted in Washington County for trespassing and in Allegheny County for aggravated cruelty to animals.

According to Pittsburgh police, he stabbed his dog multiple times in the neck in 2022 and then took him to McDonald's.
