Driver seriously injured in tractor-trailer crash near Gumboro | Latest news

GUMBORO, DE – A driver suffered serious injuries Wednesday morning when he collided with a semi-trailer truck.

According to the Delaware State Police, the accident occurred on August 21 at approximately 10:42 a.m. at the intersection of Line Road and Whaley's Road.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a semi-truck was traveling eastbound on Line Road and then slowed to turn onto Whaley's Road. Officials say a following Chevrolet Traverse failed to stop and struck the rear of the semi-truck.

The driver of the Traverse, a 68-year-old woman from Willards, Maryland, was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. A 45-year-old male passenger, also from Willards, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

According to police, the driver of the semi-trailer, a 68-year-old man from Painter, Virginia, was not injured.
