Hiram man arrested after chase and standoff

AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) – Authorities say a Hiram man was arrested after a domestic violence incident in Augusta turned into a chase and subsequent standoff.

State police were called around 7 a.m. Wednesday morning to assist with a chase.

According to officials, the victim was in the car with 32-year-old Zebbie Thomas at the time of the chase, which went through Winthrop, Monmouth and Wales before being called off for safety reasons.

They say there are two arrest warrants against Thomas, that he is on probation and is not allowed to have any contact with the victim.

Several hours later, police found Thomas and the victim at a residence on Sadies Way in Augusta.

When the officers arrived, the victim was able to leave the apartment.

She was not injured.

They say Thomas was arrested after a brief standoff.

He was booked into the Kennebec County Jail on warrants and probation violations.
