Cell phones, sex and chicken pies: 4 Fulton prison contractors arrested in smuggling raid – WSB-TV Channel 2

ATLANTA – The Fulton County Sheriff's Office confirmed an ongoing corruption investigation at the Fulton County Jail that led to the arrest of four security guards working for a contracting company.

The investigation, which began in May, has revealed serious allegations.

Natalie Ammons, communications director for the Fulton County Sheriff's Office, said the officers who were employed by Strategic Security “were all terminated today but are considered contract workers.”

The sheriff's office reported that security officer Breasha Tate allegedly smuggled cell phones into the jail by hiding them in a clipping in a book.

Records show that she admitted to giving an inmate six cell phones and other contraband and having sex with the inmate on three separate occasions.

The same records show that Tate received $1,682 in payments for the contraband from the inmate via Cash App.

LATEST STORIES:

Ammons said another fired security guard, Regina Harris, had three arrest warrants for giving an inmate a smuggled cell phone.

Laquna Ballard, another former employee, is accused of sending explicit photos and videos to an inmate and conspiring to smuggle cigarettes and cell phones into the prison.

The fourth officer, Anizya Silas, is charged with conspiracy to smuggle a phone charger and giving unapproved food, specifically a chicken pie, to an inmate.

“We cannot verify the integrity,” Ammons said.

Bail was set for all four suspects, but as of late Wednesday afternoon, only one had posted bail.

“These women unfortunately broke the law by fraternizing with the residents they were entrusted to protect,” said Sheriff Pat Labat. “They will now face the consequences for the crimes they are accused of committing. Our employees and contractors are held to equally high standards of integrity.”

Channel 2 Action News tried unsuccessfully to contact the lawyers of the arrested officers to explain their side of the story.

The sheriff's office expects further arrests as the investigation progresses.
