After murder conviction in Norman, man found with weapon after erratic driving

A Norman resident was convicted of illegal possession of a firearm following a previous felony conviction.

Ronnie Gerald Wiggins, age 60, was charged with illegal possession of a firearm on September 19, 2023.

According to court documents, a Norman police officer contacted Wiggins in October 2022 after several citizens called 911 to report his erratic driving.

Police officers learned that Wiggins had a warrant out for his arrest for violating probation after being convicted of murder in Texas in 2001.

Wiggins attempted to flee but was arrested by police. A handgun and two loaded magazines were found in Wiggins' vehicle.

His previous convictions include first-degree murder, attempted possession of heroin, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery, bank robbery, auto theft and robbery with a firearm.
