Woman allegedly sent threatening text messages to her victim

JONESBORO, Arkansas (KAIT) – Police have arrested a woman who allegedly sent a series of threatening text messages to a former girlfriend.

Craighead County District Court Judge David Boling on Wednesday, August 21, found there was probable cause to charge Azania Capri James, 23, of Jonesboro with first-degree terroristic threatening or threatening great bodily harm or death, a Class D felony.

According to the affidavit, a victim went to the Jonesboro Police Department on July 31 and filed a report alleging that he had been threatened.

“This victim stated that her former girlfriend, Azania James, sent her threatening messages,” police said.

In the messages, James explains that she would come to the victim's location and says, “My brother and I are going to kill you.” She goes on to threaten to “beat the victim with a gun,” saying, “I don't even know you're going to die” and “I'm really going to shoot you.”

James was arrested on Tuesday, August 20, and released from the Craighead County Detention Center the following day on $15,000 bail.

Judge Boling ordered James' next court date to be scheduled for Friday, September 27.
