JOHNSON COUNTY – A Kansas man faces prison in 2022 for a homicide at a Kansas gas station.

Last week, Judge Michael Joyce sentenced 27-year-old Zarrell Finley to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the next 50 years, the Johnson County District Attorney's Office said.

In July, a jury found Finley guilty of first-degree murder.

Shortly before 4:30 p.m. on July 31, 2022, police responded to a report of a shooting at a BP gas station in the 8600 block of College Boulevard, according to an Overland Park police news release.

They found 26-year-old Shaquille Jackson of Kansas City, Missouri, suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical services took him to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An FBI fugitive task force tracked down Finley and arrested him.
