A Bend man was arrested Tuesday afternoon on drug possession and trafficking charges after agents with the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team allegedly discovered a possible drug deal.

Rory Camacho, 54, was arrested for unlawful possession and attempted distribution of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a dangerous weapon, according to Sergeant Kent Vander Kamp.

Narcotics agents discovered the possible drug deal around 2:30 p.m. in the area of Third Street and Mervin Samples Road. Agents recognized Camacho from previous drug investigations, Vander Kamp said.

CODE detectives and Bend police responded to Camacho after he parked in a storage unit on Sherman Road at the corner of Empire Avenue. Vander Kamp said drug detection dog “Bonnie” detected a controlled substance in Camacho's car and the storage unit.

After a search warrant was served, investigators allegedly found a commercial-grade amount of methamphetamine. Camacho also had a double-edged switchblade knife on him, Vander Kamp said.
