GUNS N' ROSES superfan threatened with lawsuit over alleged leaks

Guns N' Roses Superfan Rick Dunsford tried to see Guns N' Roses perform in Wichita, Kansas, in October 2019, but found he was banned from seeing the band for life.

The ban resulted from Dunsford's purchase of 19 CDs of unreleased material from the Chinese democracy Sessions that he bought for $15,000 at a storage auction owned by former Universal Music Group (UMG) A&R man Tom Zutaut.

Universal Music Group claimed at the time that the demos had been leaked and that they suspected Dunsford. Now it's gotten even worse.

According to TMZ, UMG has issued Dunsford with a cease and desist letter, claiming he “violated a previous settlement agreement in which UMG paid him $15,000 to return the recordings.” UMG claims Dunsford gave away the demos a month after paying. A representative for Guns N' Roses told TMZ they are unsure if the demos were even part of the storage unit sale.

“It is immensely disappointing, sad and unfortunate that a record executive who was involved in the band's early years saw fit to auction off his former employer's unreleased material.”

Dunsford now claimed that someone else had passed on the music.
