Former Orange County teacher sentenced to life in prison

Dora.Kostyunin was later tried and convicted of the following charges:Engaging in an act constituting sexual assault on or with a child 12 years of age or older but under 18 years of age, by a person with family or custodial authority.Contributing to the delinquency of a minor.Delivery of cannabis to a person under 18 years of age by a person over 18 years of age.At the time of his arrest, Kostyunin is a science teacher at Apopka High School.On Wednesday afternoon, Kostyunin was sentenced to life in prison in Lake County District Court.

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. —

An Orange County teacher will spend the rest of his life in prison after committing sexual assault and supplying cannabis to a minor in 2023.

51-year-old Dimitri Kostjunina was accused of sexually abusing a man between the ages of 12 and under 18.

The police report states that the allegations, which include giving the victim a marijuana candy bar, occurred at Kostjunina's home in Mt. Dora.

Kostjunin was later tried and convicted on the following charges:

  • Performing an act that constitutes sexual abuse on or with a child aged 12 years or older, but younger than 18 years, by a person with family or custodial authority.
  • Inducing minors to commit crimes.
  • Supply of cannabis to a person under 18 years of age by a person over 18 years of age.

At the time of his arrest, Kostyunin was a science teacher at Apopka High School.

On Wednesday afternoon, Kostyunin was sentenced to life in prison in Lake County District Court.
