Woman succeeds in brief escape attempt from Georgetown County Jail

A woman managed a brief escape from the Georgetown County Detention Center earlier this week, but was quickly taken back into custody.
According to an incident report from the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office, 48-year-old Rosemarie Oldham was in the booking area of the detention center on Sunday, where she was undergoing drug rehabilitation.
The report states that she posted bail on a shoplifting charge in Georgetown County, but was then informed that additional shoplifting charges had been filed against her in Horry County and that she was being extradited.
While Oldham waited, a prison corporal released another inmate. When the sliding door opened to allow that inmate to leave, “Oldham saw an opportunity and ran,” the report states.
She ran out the door and toward Browns Ferry Road.
The corporal ran after her and caught up with her not far from the prison.
She was taken back to the detention center and put in a holding cell.
A warrant was issued for her arrest for escape and at the time of this publication she was still in jail on $12,125 bail.
