Deadly shooting outside Walmart in Northland

Kansas City police are investigating a fatal shooting outside a Northland Walmart. The shooting occurred just after 4:15 p.m. in the 8600 block of North Boardwalk Avenue. Kansas City police say the victim is an adult male and a suspect was arrested near the scene. The initial investigation indicates the shooting followed a verbal argument in the parking lot. “Some of these things are preventable, avoidable,” said Sergeant Phil DiMartino. “I don't know of many things that are worth pulling out a firearm and taking someone's life and risking your own.” Authorities are currently interviewing witnesses, collecting evidence and reviewing surveillance footage.
