Man arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting woman in Kailua | Crime and Courts

A man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in Kailua on Monday. They met at RSYE, an organization that provides assistance to homeless youth and young adults. The man was caught yesterday morning and RYSE is making efforts to protect residents.



KAILUA, Hawaii (Island News) – A man was arrested Monday for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in Kailua.

The two met at RYSE, a nonprofit organization that helps homeless teens and young adults.

According to police, the two went for a walk on Monday, August 19, 2024, at around 5:30 p.m. The 19-year-old man then forced the 24-year-old woman to the ground and sexually abused her.

A RYSE spokesperson told Island News that the victim was staying at a RYSE home and that the suspect had been receiving open care there.

Police caught and arrested the suspect on Tuesday morning, August 20.

The RYSE spokesperson said that this is the first incident of this kind in their community and that their team is taking all necessary precautions to protect their residents.
