Suspect dies after shooting himself during SWAT operation at Rockdale County hotel – WSB-TV Channel 2

ROCKDALE COUNTY, Georgia – A murder suspect is dead after shooting himself while on SWAT patrol in Rockdale County.

On Wednesday evening, the US Marshals Service confirmed Channel 2 Action News that it was at the Horizon Extended Stay Hotel on Iris Drive in Rockdale County and was assisting the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office in executing an arrest warrant for a suspect in a Crawford County murder case.

Marshals said the Rockdale County SWAT team was also on the scene.

The suspect barricaded himself inside. Shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday, the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office confirmed Michael Doudna from Channel 2 that the suspect, who had barricaded himself in the hotel, had shot himself dead.

The identity of the suspect has not yet been disclosed.

According to RCSO, no police officers were shot or injured.

The investigation is being led by the US Marshals.
