Fulton Jail contractor arrested for disorderly conduct and smuggling

The investigation revealed a number of illegal activities, including the smuggling of cell phones, cigarettes and other contraband into the facility.

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. – Four contract workers who work as security guards at the Fulton County Jail have been arrested in connection with an ongoing smuggling investigation, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Contractors employed by Strategic Security face serious charges, including possession of prohibited items, conspiracy to commit a crime and inappropriate sexual contact with inmates.

The investigation uncovered a number of illegal activities, including the smuggling of cell phones, cigarettes and other contraband into the facility. These items were allegedly provided to inmates in return for payment. The investigation also uncovered allegations that some of the arrested contractors had inappropriate relationships with prison inmates.

One of the arrested contractors is accused of sending explicit photos and videos to an inmate and receiving payment to smuggle items into the prison. Another contractor is accused of bringing a cell phone into the facility, violating prison regulations. A third contractor is accused of providing an inmate with a cell phone charger and an unauthorized meal for staff. The fourth contractor, meanwhile, is accused of multiple charges related to inappropriate sexual contact with a prison inmate and smuggling multiple cell phones and other contraband.

These security officers were stationed as tower guards on the 6th and 7th floors of the Fulton County Jail, where their duties included monitoring inmates and maintaining security.

“These women unfortunately broke the law by fraternizing with the residents they were entrusted to protect,” said Sheriff Patrick “Pat” Labat. “They will now face the consequences for the crimes they are believed to have committed. Our employees and contractors are held to equally high standards of integrity.”

The Fulton County Sheriff's Office stressed that the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
