Here’s what we know about the case so far:

The Courtney Reese case in Atlanta | What we know

  • The shooting occurred along Springside Drive: This area is located south of Cleveland Avenue and the street intersects Browns Mill Road in southeast Atlanta.
  • She was found with multiple gunshot wounds: Officers arrived at the scene around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20. Atlanta police said Reese succumbed to her injuries despite life-saving efforts.
  • A surveillance camera recorded the shooting: On Wednesday, 11Alive obtained a 27-second video clip from a Ring camera security system that reportedly captured the fatal shooting. The video is too graphic to show, but a tall figure who appears to be dressed all in white and wearing a hoodie can be seen walking toward Reese, who is standing outside a home. Reese can be heard in the video saying, “Please. I don't want to…” As she pleads with the person, the person can be seen raising her hands and firing at point blank range. The person fired at least 10 shots, even after Reese collapsed, before the person out of frame ran down the driveway.
  • No suspect has been named: The family told 11Alive's Cody Alcorn that they believe the man was a man she had a previous relationship with and hopes police can catch him before another innocent victim dies.
  • Courtney leaves behind four children: Three girls aged 13, 9 and 6 and an 11-year-old son.
  • The family is collecting money for the funeral: You can support them here.

Police said she was standing in a crowd when gunshots were heard from several homes down the street and she was struck by bullets. A 16-year-old suspect has been identified in the case, but no arrests have been made.
