Police – NBC 6 South Florida

A man was arrested after a video circulated online showed an employee of a mobile pet grooming service kicking a dog.

Richel Yumar-Gonzalez, 33, is facing animal cruelty charges after he was allegedly filmed kicking a small white dog in the head and neck before walking away with the dog in his arms.

The crime occurred around Aug. 12 at 1700 NE 191st Street in Hialeah, according to Miami-Dade Animal Services. They said the pet owner was unaware his dog had been kicked until he was contacted by authorities, who received the report Tuesday after the abuse was recorded by a camera on the front door.

The owner of Deluxe Mobile Pet Grooming said he immediately fired Yumar-Gonzalez and will fully cooperate with the investigation, according to Miami-Dade police.

With the help of the business owner, the suspect turned himself in and made a full confession, police said.

The dog in the video was examined by a veterinarian and “suffered no major physical injuries as a result of the incident.”

Bail for Yumar-Gonzalez was set at $500.
