18-year-old arrested for robbery and multiple assaults in De Beque supermarket

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado (KJCT) – Red and blue lights reflected off the facade of the Mavericks store and sirens blared through the aisles.

On Tuesday evening, police were called to a robbery at a De Beque supermarket. David Dainty-Guilfoyle was suspected of assaulting the store clerk and stealing several items.

A De Beque deputy marshal detained Guilfoyle with a taser while he called for backup. When backup arrived, they found the deputy marshal had been attacked and seriously injured. The store clerk who was attacked also sustained multiple injuries in the attack and was treated by paramedics on scene.

The 18-year-old from Mancos was immediately taken into custody. He was transported to the Mesa County Detention Center and charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Second degree assault on a police officer
  • Third degree assault
  • Resisting arrest
  • Obstructing a peace officer, firefighter or emergency personnel
  • Theft – Less than $300

The case is ongoing. No information has been released about the suspect's bail and his mug shot has not been released.
