Man dies after accident on I-90 in Brule County

PUKWANA, SD (Dakota News Now) – A pickup truck driver suffered fatal injuries when the driver of a Mustang rear-ended him Wednesday morning.

At approximately 11:40 a.m., a 1997 Ford F150 and a 2007 Ford Mustang were traveling west on Interstate 90 near mile marker 272, one mile southwest of Pukwana.

The driver of the Mustang collided with the rear of the F150, causing the F150 to lose control, enter the northbound ditch, and roll over, ejecting the driver.

The Mustang also lost control and ended up in the ditch on the north side of the road.

After being transported to a local hospital, the 64-year-old driver of the F150 was pronounced dead.

The 57-year-old driver of the Mustang was uninjured.

Both drivers were not wearing seat belts.

The names of those involved have not been released pending notification of families.
