Man charged over road rage incident involving firearm in Surrey

Aldergrove man charged with threats and assault with a weapon after incident involving replica firearm

A man has been charged with threatening to cause death or bodily harm in connection with a road rage incident in Surrey, police said.

Surrey Mounties responded to a call regarding a road rage incident where a man was allegedly threatened with a firearm. It occurred on Thursday, August 15, at 8:11 p.m. in the 14800 block of Fraser Highway

After searching the area, police were unable to locate the suspect.

Police took video footage of the suspect and his vehicle.

The Surrey RCMP South Community Response Unit (South CRU), with assistance from the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (LMD IERT), arrested Dariusz Tonderys, 37, of Aldergrove in the 27100 block of the Fraser Highway on August 16, according to a police news release.

“Officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 27200 block of 33A Avenue in Aldergrove and seized the firearm used in the incident,” said Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha, Surrey RCMP spokesperson. “The firearm was found to be a replica.”

Tonderys was charged with threats to kill or cause bodily harm and assault with a weapon, the press release said. He was released on August 17 on conditions that include not possessing any weapons, including imitation firearms or weapons.

This was a very dangerous incident for the victim and everyone who witnessed it. Fortunately, no one was physically injured. Sangha said: “If you have any information regarding this incident, please call the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.”
