News Center 7's Mike Campbell is working to gather new details and will have the latest information on News Center 7 starting at 5:00 a.m.

According to a West Carrollton Schools spokesperson, the district was notified that a weapon may have been brought into the middle school.

“Superintendent Dr. Andrea Townsend and other district staff, including middle school staff, immediately responded to the building and police were contacted,” the spokesman said.

During the search, a weapon was discovered. The student did not have access to the weapon at that time.

The student who allegedly brought the weapon to school was “immediately isolated from other students” and is “now in the hands of law enforcement.”

The report the school district received came from an outside source and stated that the gun was shown to another student outside of school.

“This information was shared with a trusted adult and the school district took immediate action when contacted,” the spokesperson said.
