Crude oil prices have fallen as prices at the pump fall

According to AAA Arkansas Weekend Gas Watch, the statewide average price for regular unleaded gasoline in the Natural State is $3.06 per gallon.

Compared to the same day last week, that price is down six cents. If you compare the average price of gasoline to the same day last year, that's 39 cents less per gallon.

“Arkansans planning a Labor Day road trip will pay less at the pump than last year,” said AAA spokesman Nick Chabarria.

“AAA recommends that drivers save even more on fuel costs by storing all their luggage in the vehicle instead of using over-seat luggage racks, obeying speed limits and making sure tires are properly inflated before driving.”

Of the major Arkansas metropolitan areas studied, commuters in Texarkana pay the most at the pump, at $3.13 per gallon. In Jonesboro, where drivers pay the least, the average gas price is $2.94 per gallon.

Nationwide, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline is $3.39, down 6 cents from the same day last week.

According to AAA Gas Prices, the national average price is down 47 cents compared to the same period last year.

Oil prices have fallen for five days in a row due to global demand concerns, according to AAA, a trend that has largely dented earnings for the year.

The price of WTI crude oil is just under $72 per barrel. Prices at the gas station are following the decline in crude oil.

In the Natural State, drivers pay the eighth-lowest average price for gasoline in the country.
