Mother and sister of gunman accused of killing Leesburg store clerk arrested, police say

Two more suspects were arrested Thursday in connection with a shooting that killed a store clerk in Leesburg in May. The incident occurred May 30 after a gunman, 25-year-old Alex Lopez, entered a Leesburg supermarket and opened fire on the store clerk. Police found the clerk, identified as 51-year-old Raied “Ray” Shihadeh, lying unconscious on the ground with at least one apparent gunshot wound. Shihadeh was flown by helicopter to Ocala Regional Hospital, where he died overnight, police said. Lopez was arrested June 26 in Kissimmee. Police arrested his mother and sister on Thursday with assistance from the Lady Lake and Wildwood police departments. Dupuis, the shooter's girlfriend, is still at large, according to police. Two more suspects were arrested Thursday in connection with a shooting that killed a store clerk in Leesburg in May.

The incident occurred on May 30 after an armed man, 25-year-old Alex Lopez, entered a Leesburg supermarket and opened fire on the store clerk.

Police found the employee, identified as 51-year-old Raied “Ray” Shihadeh, unconscious on the floor with at least one apparent gunshot wound.

Shihadeh was flown by helicopter to Ocala Regional Hospital, where he died overnight, police said.

Lopez was arrested in Kissimmee on June 26.

After further investigation, police determined that Lopez's mother Patricia Kinchens, his sister Breanna Lopez and his girlfriend Kaili Dupuis had helped him by preventing his arrest by police.

Police arrested his mother and sister on Thursday with assistance from the Lady Lake and Wildwood police departments.

Dupuis, the shooter's girlfriend, is still at large, according to police.
