New gaming console for your setup?

Curious about the Nintendo Switch 2? Leaks hint at some exciting upgrades that could take your gaming console experience to the next level.

My younger brother and I enjoy playing Mario games and other first-release games on our Nintendo Switch. The games usually run smoothly and look great, from Mario Kart 8 to Crysis and Fortnite. However, some titles with high technical requirements or poor optimization can be disappointing. Given the Nintendo Switch 2 leaks that have surfaced, could we soon get a gaming console that fixes these issues?

Imagine improved graphics and performance that could completely change your gaming experience. After all the Nintendo Switch 2 leaks, what if the next console really lives up to expectations and fixes all the frustrations of the past? Check out the latest rumors to find out if the Nintendo Switch 2 could be the game-changer you've been waiting for!

Nintendo Switch 2 vs Nintendo Switch

Nintendo's consoles are starting to show their age, especially the Nvidia Tegra X1 system-on-a-chip, which was released two years before the Switch. While Nintendo's own games usually run smoothly, there have been a few issues with titles like Pokémon Scarlet. Additionally, games ported over from other systems often don't look as sharp.

But there is exciting news! Leaks on the Nintendo Switch 2 suggest that it will feature the NVIDIA Tegra 239 SoC. This new chip is a big step up from the old one, and features 8 Cortex-A78C cores for a significant CPU boost. The GPU is also getting a big upgrade, with a 128-bit memory bus and up to 102GB/s bandwidth – assuming Nintendo doesn't slow it down. On top of that, the T239 is rumored to use Nvidia's Ampere graphics with some features from Ada Lovelace, making it a pretty impressive upgrade. Let's check out the more detailed specs to see how they stack up!

Nintendo Switch 2 Specifications

The new cards are said to use Samsung's 5th generation V-NAND, which can read up to 1.4 GB/s. That's great news! The performance boost seems to be exactly what we were hoping for, even if 5th generation V-NAND lags a bit behind 10th generation. But if that turns out to be true, it should still work. And if it means making physical cards cheaper to produce, I'm all for it.

The Switch has always had an issue with the cost of larger capacity cartridges, which is why so many games ended up being download codes or just one game on a cartridge. If these new cards help reduce manufacturing costs, it could be a game-changer for physical games, making them more affordable and accessible, as we've learned from the Nintendo Switch 2 leaks.

To handle demanding games, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 will have 12GB of RAM. While consoles usually get by with less RAM because they're optimized for smooth operation, the Xbox Series S showed us that less RAM can be a real disadvantage. So, since the Switch has more memory, we can expect it to handle the latest games with fewer issues.

Nintendo Switch 2 Price

When the Nintendo Switch first launched in 2017, it cost $299.99 in the US, £279.99 (about $355) in the UK, and 29,980 yen (about $260) in Japan. Nintendo has a reputation for offering budget-friendly hardware compared to its competitors and tries to keep prices low.

There is no official announcement on the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 yet, but it could be around $399. However, it is also possible that Nintendo will set a lower price. They are all about providing a great gaming experience without breaking the bank, especially given the current economic climate.

Performance

Nintendo hasn't released detailed performance figures for its new console yet, but hints suggest it could rival the PS4 and Xbox One. Some speculation even suggests it will be comparable to the Steam Deck, promising a significant performance boost over current Switch models.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will match the performance of the Steam Deck with its advanced GPU and powerful CPU. While it might lag a bit in single-core tasks, the overall upgrade should improve graphics and gameplay, according to several Nintendo Switch 2 leaks.

If the rumors are true, the Switch 2 will offer better graphics and smoother performance than the current Switch. This potential leap in quality and gaming performance has Nintendo fans eagerly awaiting the next product.

Nintendo Switch 2 release date

Since mid-February, reports have been circulating that the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 could be delayed until 2025. Just over a week later, rumors began to circulate that it would not be released until March of that year at the earliest.

Now it looks like we can't expect a launch before April 2025. Christ Dring of GameIndustry.biz said on the MicroCast podcast that “none of the developers I've spoken to are expecting a launch this fiscal year. In fact, they've been told not to expect it to be in the [current] fiscal year. A lot of people I've talked to are hoping it will come out in April or May, so early next year, not later.”

Recap

As a long-time fan of Nintendo games, I'm excited by the potential of a new console that could solve some of the problems we're struggling with with our current system. If the Nintendo Switch 2 leaks are accurate, we could see significant improvements in graphics and performance. The prospect of improved graphics and smoother playability has me excited for what's next.

While we may have to wait a little longer for a release date, the potential improvements sound promising. Stay tuned for updates – it looks like there's a lot to look forward to! In the meantime, be sure to check out Gadget Flow's roundup of the best gaming gadgets!
