Trump campaign pulls 'Freedom' video after Beyoncé blocks its use

One of Donald Trump's campaign staffers was forced to “go left, go left” after representatives for Beyoncé reportedly challenged the illegal use of her image in a video this week.

The Grammy winner's 2016 song “Freedom” – which was used as a central theme for Kamala Harris' campaign – appeared in a social media clip promoting the former one-term president's efforts to seek re-election in 2024.

Trump spokesman Steven Cheung released the 13-second video of Trump arriving at a rally in Michigan on Tuesday, using the popular song as the soundtrack.

Following the clip, Rolling Stone reported that Beyoncé's record label and music publisher had sent a cease-and-desist letter to Trump's presidential campaign over the use of the song. Cheung's video was removed from social media on Thursday evening.

Representatives of the “Cowboy Carter” superstar, who is rumored to appear at the closing night of the DNC, have not yet commented publicly on the issue.

Weeks earlier, Vice President Harris had touted “Freedom” at the official launch of her campaign and subsequently used the slogan at her rallies.

A stripped-down version of the modern protest song was used as the official anthem during the opening night of the Democratic National Convention, when Harris surprised the crowd at the United Center in Chicago.
