Motorcyclist seriously injured in accident in Ossining

A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision with an SUV in Ossining on Route 9A near Stormytown Road on Thursday.

According to Ossining police, the motorcyclist was traveling southbound and the SUV turned left onto Stormytown Road. The motorcycle struck the passenger door.

According to police, two medical bystanders began to resuscitate the motorcyclist, who was eventually taken to hospital with serious injuries. No one in the SUV was injured.

The cause of the accident is still unknown, but the intersection where the accident occurred is dangerous, according to Ossining police. Officers told News 12 that accidents often occur there.

Many drivers say they would like to see changes at the intersection to make it safer, for example by installing traffic lights.

“There are constant traffic jams. If you find a gap, you have to come across as if you were racing like crazy. There is a lot of traffic,” says Bob Rosenthal, who works near the accident site.

“It's very dangerous. People speed through there and that's not good,” says Victor Garcia, a resident of Ossining.

Route 9A was closed between Croton and Route 134 for hours but reopened Thursday evening.
