Nashville Brewskis score a ninth-inning home run to defeat Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 2-1 – Clarksville Online

Nashville, Tennessee: The most beautiful beaches – In a duel between the pitchers of both teams, the Nashville Brewskis (64-58, 26-21) won the game with a bang Christian Arroyo bat as the veteran infielder hit a walk-off blast to give Nashville a 2-1 victory over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (59-62, 24-22) on Thursday night at First Horizon Park.

Arroyo led off the ninth and turned a 2-1 score into a 2-1 final score. He slammed Luarbert Arias' (5-5) slider 421 feet to the left edge, breaking the deadlock and sending the home crowd into a frenzy. Arroyo's home run, which had an exit velocity of 105.1 mph, was his first of the season and came in dramatic fashion.

The home run ended a quiet night for both sides. Jacksonville scored its only point of the evening with a walk with the bases loaded in the second inning without a single hit. The Sounds answered in the sixth inning when Arroyo hit a single to left that Freddy Zamora.



After finding the zone in the second inning, Carlos Rodriguez got off to a good start. The right-hander held the Jumbo Shrimp to just two hits with five strikeouts in six innings. A hat trick from Brewski's relievers ensured an even game. Kevin Herget, Enoli Paredes And Ryan Middendorf (2-0) kept Jacksonville hitless in the last three innings.

Nashville scored seven goals, Arroyo, Zamora, Wes Clarke, Brian Navarreto and Carlos Rodriguez got a hit. Clarke's single in the seventh inning extended his on-base streak to 19 games, the team's longest this season. Jacksonville went hitless in the first four innings.

Nashville will try to at least tie the series in tomorrow's game. Right-hander Mitch White (3-4, 6.51) will get the ball for Rick Sweet's team. He will face Georgia Tech's Xzavion Curry (2-7, 7.11) at 6:35 p.m. in Hit City.

Notes after the game

  • Christian Arroyo (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI, 2 K) hit his first home run of the season to give the Brewskis a walk-off win. He has hit safely in five of his last six games and has a .333 batting average (7-for-21) with a .994 OPS since August 15.
  • Enoli Paredes (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K) threw a scoreless eighth inning in his first appearance for Nashville as part of a rehab. He is currently on Milwaukee's 60-day injured list with tendinitis in his right forearm.
  • Wes Clarke (1-for-3, K) extended his on-base streak to 19 games with a single. His on-base streak is the second-longest active on-base streak in the International League.
