Kamala's reversal of price gouging is blatant gaslighting

Kamala Harris backtracks againthis time about their plan to ban “price gouging”.

Sources familiar with Harris' “thinking about the ban” told the New York Times anonymously this week that the measure would be “narrowly tailored to the food and grocery industry” and “likely reserved for emergency situations, such as the immediate aftermath of a natural disaster or in the midst of a pandemic.”

It can be no coincidence that this “clarification” came just days after even the left-wing Washington Post had sharply criticized Harris’ plan and accused her of offering “populist gimmicks” as a supposed solution to the economic crisis.

And after food industry leaders pointed out that the price increases crushing American households are due to inflation in her costs, and not the greedy increase of their profit margins.

The fact is that Harris only supported her (intentionally vague) plan because she wanted to pretend that the real cause of inflation was “corporate greed.”

Anything to deflect responsibility from what has actually driven up the cost of basic goods: the Biden-Harris administration's never-ending spending sprees, its economy-choking policies, and its vote-buying giveaways.

This was Democratic gaslighting at its most blatant.

Hence their rapid change of course – after even the centre-left called a foul – to claim that their price controls would only be used in emergency situations – that is, rarely, if ever.

But even the stripped-down version is not a good idea: Companies set their prices based on their own costs and what their customers are willing to pay. And they know this delicate balance much better than government bureaucrats.

Not to mention that anonymous third-party quotes are no way to “take back” what sounded like a serious political announcement from Harris herself: How can anyone know if this game of Chinese whispers accurately reflects her actual position?

She certainly can't be held accountable if she changes her mind again – and the rumor mill can't clarify what is meant by “emergency” or “rare,” if Harris herself even used those words.

The industry must therefore continue to fear that the reality is much worse and waste time and energy entrenching itself – which is bad for it And his customers.

This was nothing more than a signal to the vast Democratic media community to stop talking about Harris's price control “plan.” They will probably comply, but that just means America will remain in the dark about what she is actually planning, other than saying anything she thinks will help her get elected.
