Suspect in custody after Triad shooting

NOW A LOOK AT WHAT'S HAPPENING RIGHT NOW. CHRISTINE, LINDSEY AND DAVONTE. WE START IN RANDOLPH COUNTY. THE TOWN OF RAMSEUR NO LONGER HAS A POLICE DEPARTMENT. ACCORDING TO THE TOWN ADMINISTRATION, ALL POLICE OFFICERS LEFT THE POLICE DEPARTMENTS THIS WEEK AFTER FRUSTRATING BUDGET NEGOTIATIONS. THERE WERE SIX POLICE OFFICERS, BUT THE TOWN SECRETARY RECENTLY TOLD WXII THAT TWO HAVE ACCEPTED JOBS WITH OTHER AGENCIES. ONE WAS ON DISABILITY AND ANOTHER HAS LEFT THE POLICE DEPARTMENTS. THE CHIEF HAD ASKED FOR AN ADDITIONAL $200,000 FOR HIS POLICE DEPARTMENTS, WHICH THE TOWNSHIP SAID SIMPLY COULD NOT RAISE. THE RANDOLPH COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE WILL TEMPORARILY HANDLE CASES IN THE TOWN. IN WILKES COUNTY, A FORMER POLICE OFFICER IS CHARGED FOR DAMAGING HEADSTONES. THE WILKES COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE CONFIRMS DAVID MORLANDO FACING SIX FELONY CHARGES FOR REMOVING HEADSTONES FROM AN ANTIOCH BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY IN WILKESBORO. A HEADSTONE WAS ALSO DAMAGED. OFFICERS SAY HE WORKED FOR THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE BETWEEN 2019 AND 2022. HE IS ALSO A FORMER STATE HIGHWAY PATROL OFFICER. AND IN WINSTON-SALEM, POLICE HAVE RELEASED THE NAME OF THE MAN WHO WAS SHOT AND KILLED IN A HOME A WEEK AGO. POLICE FOUND JEFFREY WHITE SHOT MULTIPLE TIMES IN A HOME IN OAK RIDGE COURT. According to Asheboro Police officials, a man was arrested in connection with a shooting.

A shooting was reported on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive near Harrison Street in Asheboro shortly before 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

The caller told officers that a man had been shot in the leg and the suspect fled. Officers said the victim was taken to a nearby hospital.

The investigation quickly led to the identification of the suspect and arrest warrants were issued for 18-year-old Kelvin Cook.
