Second person arrested in connection with 2022 Nampa murder

The Canyon County Sheriff's Office told KTVB that 34-year-old Manuel Santana is the second person arrested in connection with the murder of 20-year-old Issac Bernal.

BOISE, Idaho – A second person has been arrested in connection with the murder of 20-year-old Issac Bernal, which occurred in Nampa in November 2022.

The Canyon County Sheriff's Office told KTVB on Thursday that 34-year-old Manuel Santana, who is currently being held at IDOC on other charges, will face charges in connection with the murder.

Santana will be taken to the Canyon County Jail and police will serve him with a warrant for first-degree murder in connection with the shooting, authorities said.

As previously reported, 41-year-old Olivia Hernandez was the first person arrested in connection with the murder. The Canyon County Sheriff's Office told KTVB she was arrested in Potter County, Texas, and extradited to Idaho. She is in police custody.

As previously reported, on November 26, 2022, police were called to a location near 17000 N. Pegram Way in Nampa around 11:30 p.m. for a shooting. According to a Nampa Police press release, upon arrival, officers found a 20-year-old man who had been shot.

Police said officers provided medical assistance, but the man died at the scene.

Days later, the Ada County Coroner's Office identified the man as Bernal; he died from the gunshot wound.

According to the Canyon County Sheriff's Office, Hernandez is charged with aiding and abetting murder and aiding and abetting a crime.

The case is still under investigation.
