Usher rocks the stage in Washington DC after neck injury, Baltimore is next

Usher had a successful two nights in Washington, DC after finally kicking off his long-awaited Past Present Future Tour after a brief delay.

The singer was supposed to start his tour in Atlanta on August 15, but he injured his neck during rehearsals last month and had to cancel his first three shows.

“I was hoping that with physical therapy and medical treatment I would overcome the injury and be ready for the premiere,” he said in his statement on August 15. “Unfortunately, the injury has not healed yet and my doctors have advised me not to do any shows this week.”

On Tuesday night, the 45-year-old R&B legend finally kicked off her two-hour opening night at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC, in a dazzling black coat and hat, diversity reported.

On the second night, he wore an all-red ensemble and was accompanied by Washington DC-based musicians Wale and Raheem DeVaughn and EU-based Sugar Bear.

The eight-time Grammy winner also entertained the audience with songs from his ninth album, Return home, which was released in February.

Usher's next tour stop is Baltimore, where he will perform at the CFG Bank Arena on August 23 and 24.

The North American leg of the tour ends in December with a three-day show in Atlanta.

The European part of the Past Present Future The eight-day tour begins on March 29 at the O2 Arena in London.

Performances are also planned in Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin, followed by a finale in London in May.

The musician announced that he will embark on the career-spanning tour in December 2023, just weeks after the end of his My path: The Las Vegas Residency run.

There is also a concert film from Usher USHER: RENDEZVOUS IN PARIS will be released in around 2,000 cinemas worldwide between September 12 and 15.
