Fort Greene attack: NYPD seeks suspect accused of beating woman and making anti-Muslim remarks against her in Brooklyn, NYC

FORT GREENE, Brooklyn (WABC) — Police are searching for the suspect accused of attacking a woman in Brooklyn.

The attack occurred around 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday in a commercial building at 139 Flatbush Avenue.

According to the NYPD, the suspect approached the 34-year-old woman and punched her in the face multiple times. Officials say the suspect also made anti-Muslim comments to the woman before fleeing the scene west on Atlantic Avenue.

The victim suffered minor injuries in the attack but was not taken to hospital.

The NYPD Hate Crimes Unit is investigating the incident.

According to police, the suspect is a man between the ages of 16 and 20 with a heavy build and dark skin. He was last seen wearing a black mask, a black hoodie and black pants. The suspect was also wearing white sneakers and a book bag.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
